How to make a catchy image out of simple cut things? One option is to use several different prints in the same ensemble. You will learn about the five subtleties of combining prints from an article by our stylist.
Now the idea of a rational wardrobe is extremely popular, in which all clothes and accessories are perfectly combined with each other and give the maximum number of different sets with a minimum number of things. And the easiest way to create a rational wardrobe is to create a basic wardrobe capsule. What are the basic things? These are things of a simple cut with a minimal amount or absence of decorative elements. But women are changeable and impulsive natures. It is very difficult for us to live in any rigid framework and limitations. And in addition to changing attire for different social roles: mother, wife, business woman, seductive lover, bosom friend, we tend to change outwardly and depending on the mood. How to combine two aspects: a simple cut and the ability to instantly transform from a gray mouse into a bird of paradise? You can play with colors, textures, accessories, or you can add prints.
Prints can be conditionally divided into geometric (cage, strip, pea), vegetable (twigs, flowers, leaves), animalistic (zebra, leopard, python, tiger and even a cow that is fashionable this season), abstract (camouflage, for example), ethnic ( paisley, ikat) and inscriptions (newspaper print or just a logo or statement). At the same time, they all combine with each other if there is something in common in the drawings. Color, rhythm — the characteristic size of repeating elements, the print itself in a different size or design, the message transmitted by the print (tropics and leopard, for example), etc., can be common.
For clarity, let's look at a few examples from the collection of the January issue of Burda "Like a Picture", which became the new Theme of the month.

A simple combination of a blouse with trousers will play in a new way, you just need to add a print and season with a contrasting color of the jacket. The harmony between the abstract printed fabric of the blouse fabric and a slightly strict cell of the fabric of the trousers is achieved due to the unity in the color scheme and the proportionality of the characteristic print elements. And note that the crocodile dressing of the ankle boots also echoes the rhythm of the fabric patterns of the kit, and their color matches the tone of the color of the jacket.

Rounded peas and a straight strip? Why not! Peas are essentially a circle, and a strip, and a duet they harmoniously sing the ode of Geometry. Two kinds of stripes and polka dots? And yes again! The rules of the game are the same: one message and the unity of the color scheme.
3. Vegetable + geometric

Stylized flowers bloom on wide cropped trousers with pleats at the waist. A harmonious companion to them will be a romantic Victorian-style polka dot blouse. Take a closer look, the size and shape of the stamens in the stylized image of flowers almost completely repeats the scattering of flies on the organza. Both the floral print and the polka dots bear the general idea of femininity. And so that the image does not turn out to be cloying, we add a sporty casual note in the form of a jacket and sunglasses of the current form.
4. Vegetable + animalistic

Not only clothes, but also accessories can be printed. At the same time, the rules for combining prints remain unchanged. For example, a coral dress with graceful cranes depicted in the Japanese style can be complemented with catchy high heeled boots with a print for a python, because cranes and python are united by a common natural message and have a similar color scheme. To make the look light, we’ll select outerwear based on the colors present in the print pattern.

Representatives of the cat family hide on a soft hoodie in tropical thickets. Spots on the skin of a representative of the same family snugly fit on trousers. Plant elements of the print top overlap in color with printed fabric bottom. Additions to such a bright set are better to choose in a calm color scheme.
And remember, a print always attracts attention, so feel free to use it to emphasize the merits of your appearance.
