Favorite magazines often offer attractive retro-styled models. How to find a middle ground and wear such things without unnecessary theatricality and historicism, read the article.
60s: hot and stylish! Burda Special Project 07/2019
The retro style rarely leaves anyone indifferent: he captivates some with femininity and an interesting cut, scares others with pretentiousness and a possible visual increase in age. From here two extremes arise. Retro fans are ready to put on it from head to toe, complementing the image with authentic accessories from the era. Opponents diligently avoid the slightest hint of vintage and are panicky afraid to let retro into their wardrobe. However, with a competent approach to choosing a model and other components of the image, you can easily avoid theatricality and the “grandmother effect”. The basic rule is: create things with a touch of retro modern surroundings, and then it will shine like a diamond.

Yes, a sleeveless top with a stand-up collar was extremely popular in the 50s and early 60s of the 20th century. It was worn with puffy midi-length skirts, micro shorts or cropped capri pants. Now desperate fashionistas can complement it with bicycles and a voluminous denim. I propose to beat this charming top with a typical 60s-printed outfit that is no less relevant this season, consisting of Bermuda and blazer. Pastel color will support the femininity inherent in the fashion of that period, and the very essence of the suit with shorts will bring the necessary dynamism. Depending on the chosen accessories, this image can become a spectacular evening ensemble or a lifesaver for office everyday life.

A noble white dress with flaps at the waist, coupled with pointed boats with low heels, could have been easily presented at the first lady of the United States, Jacqueline Kennedy. But fashion has changed, and the modern elegant woman prefers bright sandals with graceful thin straps and an unusual heel and the actual form of sunglasses, in which light echoes of the past era are guessed.

In the 60s, the wine-colored blouse was destined to remain within the sports wardrobe or capsule for outdoor activities. Now, thanks to satin fabric and a trend for a sportswear, it will fit perfectly into a slightly provocative set with a linen-style top and a narrow pencil skirt with asymmetric zipper. And where to go in such a kit, with your husband to a restaurant or a fashion show, it's up to you.

Audrey Hepburn combined white capri pants with a sleeveless shirt, Jacqueline Kennedy with a simple black jumper, and a modern girl can easily fit them into a dynamic sports style, city casual or laid-back boho. I propose to dwell on the latter and complement the capri with a spacious asymmetric frill blouse. A shopper bag made of crochet lace, as if tied by a caring grandmother, and a hat will become bright accents of the summer urban look.

In the mid-60s, the United States joined the military operations in Vietnam. Almost immediately, a hippie protest movement appeared in society, bringing fashionable flowing fabrics, psychedelic and ornate floral prints, ethnic motifs, tunics and light long dresses. And in wide trousers, as if created from two pieces of cloth tied at the waist, a subtle oriental aroma is felt. Combining these trousers is not at all difficult: you can support the hippie style with a spacious blouse or enhance the oriental aroma of a kimono wrap. And you can bet on the exciting feminine flying effect that occurs when moving the trousers superimposed on the front back halves, and add a light blouse with a shuttlecock, heels and a “royal” bezel - the image for an informal evening event is ready.

In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent, inspired by a forced trip to his native Algeria, created a collection in the style of a safari. Natural colors, coupled with elements of a military uniform, shocked the fashionable French public, accustomed to femininity or the forefront of the 60s. Thus began the long history of safari style, which continues to this day.
A skirt with flying figured coquets could become the basis of a summer office wardrobe. However, I propose to support the spirit of the safari with a basically similar cowboy style that has not lost its fancy for the third season in a row. Companions for the skirt will be a spacious blouse with a print reminiscent of ethnic motifs, and western ankle boots. A pair of thin wrist bracelets will be a successful completion of the image.

Free-cut shorts with gathered pleats at the waist are actually a slightly more convenient alternative to a skirt. Fashionistas of the 60s combined A-line shorts with shirts and pullovers. And although this method of combining is relevant now, the cut of these things and the way of designing the image with accessories have undergone changes. For example, for hot weather, in the company of shorts, you can pick up a loose long-sleeved shirt made of light chiffon or staple, a visor as a headdress and slippers. A free silhouette of things and natural fabrics will provide comfort, a straw visor will protect your eyes from the scorching sun, slippers on a high platform will not let you burn your feet, and not only the little things will fit in a spacious canvas bag, but also a water bottle or even all beach accessories. It is a pleasure to walk in this way along the promenade of the resort town!
