Muesli deserves to be on the table

In 1900, the Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Benner offered patients a “porridge” of raw grains. His invention - muesli - has become the favorite breakfast of millions of women around the world.

Muesli from their creator, Dr. Bechner-Benner, was prepared like this. Half a tablespoon of oatmeal was mixed with the same amount of crushed raw grains of wheat, rice, barley, rye or millet. The grain mixture was seasoned with one tablespoon of lemon juice, and immediately before serving it was poured with some other juice, most often orange or water, a sliced ​​apple and one tablespoon of chopped almonds or walnuts were added. Over the past century, this recipe has undergone significant changes, but the illusion remains that muesli is something so incredibly nutritious and healthy. Although why is it an illusion?
Even muesli, dried and infrared, can be proudly called a wholesome breakfast. Indeed, they are based on cereals (50−80%), nuts and dried fruits (up to 30%). So, fiber, minerals, vitamins of groups B, E and C. Of course, in fresh cereals, nutrients are incomparably more. But firstly, the city dweller, and even in winter, can only dream of such food.And secondly, how many people do you know who are able to eat barley, wheat and rye grains in raw form?
MUSLI GIVES A STOCK OF POWER FOR THE WHOLE DAY. Cereals are very long digested and slowly digested. Therefore, you can be sure: after eating cereal for breakfast, which includes whole grains, you will soon get hungry.
THEY ARE USEFUL FOR THE GUT. Unroasted muesli has a lot of fiber, which improves digestion and is the best prevention of many diseases: from constipation to colon cancer. Wheat bran, oats, barley, rye grains are especially rich in fiber.
IMPROVE MOOD ... Carbohydrate food stimulates the production of the "pleasure hormone" serotonin. And in the granola carbohydrates more than enough - from 60 to 80 g per 100 g of product.
... AND REMOVE STRESS. The thing is that muesli is hard and also crunches. It is this kind of food that best reduces nervous tension. You probably noticed that in difficult times we are irresistibly drawn to fried seeds, chips, salty sticks, crackers. It makes sense to replace them with muesli - they are more useful.
HELP TO LOSE - thanks to all the same complex carbohydrates and fiber. Grains, nuts and dried fruits rich in them leave a feeling of satiety for a long time, which means they protect against overeating. In addition, the body spends a lot of energy on their assimilation - and calories.
EASY PMS. According to scientists, vegetables, fruits, cereals, cereals and granola without high-calorie additives (chocolate, coconut, banana chips) best remove unpleasant symptoms on the eve of critical days.If lethargy, irritability and a state of depression at this time are faithful companions, it makes sense to reconsider the diet.
PROTECT AGAINST SEASONAL AVITAMINOSIS AND STRENGTHEN IMMUNITY - a lot of vitamins and minerals are preserved in unroasted cereals, nuts, seeds and dried fruits.
Fly in the ointment with muesli
THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT. All talk of virtues ends when we buy glazed granola. This is not breakfast, but desserts - sweet, tasty and not very healthy. Therefore, for daily needs, choose muesli with calcined or dried cereals, unroasted nuts and minimally processed dried fruits. Everything else is on holidays.
MUSLI CALORIAN. If in "harsh" unprocessed cereal breakfasts, such as oatmeal, - about 300 kcal, then in those with toppings - 400, 500, or even 600 kcal. Therefore, if in the composition you see sugar, molasses, honey, candied fruit and even more so banana chips, coconut, be careful. How not to run into a calorie bomb!
THEY ARE HARMFUL FOR TEETH, especially if they are with orange juice. Therefore, they need breakfast at least every other day, and only following certain rules. So, muesli must be soaked. Pour them at least half an hour before drinking - no, not with juice, but with milk, kefir or yogurt. Well, if you soak them at night, they will be tough for even those who can not afford solid food.
