1. Gangster style sneakers: master class
Photo: momspark.netWith a brush and paint, simple sneakers turn into elegant black and white brogues! So you can decorate the so-called half-sneakers - those that are just below the ankles (after all, brogues were originally of such height).
You will need:
- White sneakers;
- black acrylic for fabric;
- a brush.
1. Gently paint the side parts of the sneakers with black paint, as shown in the picture.

2. At the back, draw a contour of the black heel and paint it with paint.

3. Now you need to put the dots simulating perforation. This is a rather crucial moment: for fidelity, you can first apply the “marking” with a pencil or a wash-out / disappear marker for the fabric, and then take up the paint. Use a good brush with a thin tip.

4. Place rows of dots along each line of black parts, on the sides and back. Before updating sneakers, leave the paint to dry properly (refer to the instructions on the label of your paint).

2. Rainbow Sneakers: a master class
Photo: ilovetocreateblog.blogspot.com
For this method of decorating shoes from fabric, you need a set of paints for batik. Choose them carefully: you do not need thick paint, but liquid, water-based. The number of colors is at your discretion (4–5 is enough). Choose the colors themselves so that when mixed they give beautiful shades.
You will need:
- white fabric sneakers;
- a set of liquid paint for water-based batik;
- spray with clean water.
1. Prepare the paints. To obtain a more transparent color, you can add cold water to the bottles (then shake and mix the paint).

2. Cover the work surface with cellophane or oilcloth, place sneakers on it and properly moisten their fabric part with spray water.

3. Decide in what order you will apply the paint. Focus on the order of the colors of the rainbow (otherwise, when mixed, colors can give a dirty tint). Take a bottle of paint and paint the noses of the sneakers. Liquid paint will soak well in a damp cloth - you can not use a brush.

3. Next, take a bottle of paint of a different color and paint over the next area. On a damp cloth, the paints will mix by themselves.

4. Continue the same procedure until you have colored all the sneakers. Now you need to dry them properly and, if necessary, fix the paint with hot steam (see the instructions for your paint).

3. Sneakers with ombre laces: a master class

A simple but interesting way to change sneakers is to dye their shoelaces using the ombre technique.
You will need:
- sneakers with white cloth laces;
- liquid paint for water-based batik;
- capacity for paint;
- rubber / cellophane gloves.
1. Remove the laces from the sneakers. Prepare the paint.

2. Pour paint into a container. Fold the laces in half and place in the middle of the container. Leave it on for a while so that the paint saturates the laces.

3. When the laces are sufficiently saturated with paint, put on gloves and remove them from the container. Be careful not to stain the white ends with paint, this will violate the ombre effect. If indicated in the instructions, rinse the laces in clean water. If not, just dry them. It remains only to insert the laces in the sneakers.

6. Sneakers with a "lace" pattern: a master class

Another way to update old sneakers is to apply a lace pattern to them. In this case, crocheted napkins are used as a stencil. Note that paint will get on the napkins and, most likely, they cannot be removed. Instead, you can use paper lace napkins or trimmed lace with a large pattern.
You will need:
- sneakers;
- a pair of lace napkins (knitted, paper);
- masking tape;
- paper for stuffing sneakers;
- paint for fabric in a spray can.
1. Use masking tape to glue the sides of the soles of the sneakers so that paint does not get on it.

2. Fill the sneakers with paper.

3. Wrap the sneakers with napkins or lace. Arrange the lace as you would like the pattern to go. Fix the napkins with tape on the sole side so that they do not move out.

4. Spray the sneakers with paint from a spray can and leave to dry.

7. Sneakers in the "zentangle" technique: master class
Photo: ilovetocreateblog.blogspot.com
Zentangle - a picture divided into parts, consisting of repeating patterns. If you already know how to draw using this technique, it’s easy to colorize your sneakers. Beginners are better off working out a bit on paper.
You will need:
- sneakers (for this technique it is better to use new and bright);
- indelible marker for fabric.
Draw by repeating the pattern from the pictures, or create your own.
